The Bible:
Salvation:
We believe that
salvation is by repentance/faith alone in the Lord
Jesus Christ (Lk 13:1-3; Rom 3:28). Repentance is
not a “work” (Tit 3:5). As one repents of sin (Lk
18:13-14; Acts 3:19), he does so to believe (Jn
3:14-18) on Christ (Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21).
Also the blood of Christ
is necessary for salvation.
An abundance of
Scriptures refer to the importance of the blood of
Christ (Matt 26:28; Acts 20:28; Rom 5:9; Eph 1:7,
2:13; Col 1:14, 20; Heb 9:12-22,10:19, 12:24, 13:20;
I Pet 1:2, 1:19; I Jn 1:7; Rev 1:5, 5:9, 7:14,
12:11).
The blood of Jesus
Christ was and is divine (Acts 20:28) and without
any taint of sin (II Cor 5:21) and, yet, physical
(Heb 2:16-17).
The blood of Jesus has a
present and future (Rev 12:11) ministry of cleansing
and of propitiating the wrath of God (I Jn 1:7; Heb
12:24).
The Church:
The Church is a local
assembly of saved and baptized believers who worship
God in spirit and truth (Jn 4:24) and carry out the
great commission (Matt 28:18-20; Mk 16:15).
The church is not
universal and invisible (Rev 22:16). There are two
offices: the Pastor (Acts 20:28) and Deacon (Phil
1:1). God’s eternal purpose is centered in the
Church (Eph 3:10-11 & 21). Fellowships, para-church
organizations, bible colleges that are not under the
authority of a local church and mission boards do
not have any authority over the church (Matt 18:17).
Second Coming:
We believe in the
pre-millennial, pre-tribulation rapture of the
saints (I Thess 4:15-18). We reject the pre-wrath
position (Mk 13:32).
Holy Spirit:
We believe that when a
person is saved (Acts 16:30-31), he is regenerated
(Tit 3:5) indwelt (I Cor 6:19), and sealed by the
Holy Spirit (Eph 1:12-13). A saved person should be
filled with the Spirit of God (Eph 5:18). We reject
speaking in tongues and seeking the other sign gifts
(Matt 16:4; Heb 2:3-4) mentioned in I Corinthians
12:8-10. The filling of the Spirit produces the
fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) as well as power
to witness for Christ (Acts 1:8, 4:31-33), not to
give an experience or make one lose self-control (II
Tim 1:7). The modern charismatic movement is
unscriptural and dangerous.
Separation:
We believe in standards of holiness
(Rom 12:1-2; I Thess 4:7; I Jn 2:15-17) in areas
including dress (I Tim 2:9; Duet 22:5), music (Ps
149:1; Col 3:16), and entertainment (Js 4:4; Ps
101:3). In ministry we do not believe in cooperating
with Neo-Evangelicals (Rom 16:17). We separate from
any agency that attempts to supersede the authority
of the N.T. Church (I Tim 3:15).
